Scientists have been engineering biology for decades in a variety of ways, but the developing field of synthetic biology opens up new possibilities and questions. Synthetic biology is an area of scientific research focused on the possibility of redesigning, engineering, and constructing entirely new biological systems.
Building with Biology events will take place in the Summer of 2015, and will bring scientists and members of the public together at science centers and museums across the U.S. to consider societal implications of this fast-growing field. There will be hands-on activities throughout the museum, from "Building your own super hero!" to deciding "Would you eat that?" Also, young audiences can participate with our event passport and earn their Building with Biology badge!
